Jet Rhys Salon Brings A-List Hollywood Style to Solana Beach

- Looks are everything at new North County location -

Jet Rhys, the Southern California authority on high-fashion hair and voted “top spot for getting gorgeous” in InStyle’s 2009 Ultimate Beauty Black Book, expands its reach in San Diego County with a brand new salon located at 437 Pacific Coast Hwy in Solana Beach, CA 92075.

“Our clients have been asking for a presence in North County for years, and the time is right to seize the opportunity,” says Jet Rhys. “Our philosophy has always been that looks are everything, which is why we commissioned the innovative design team Bells & Whistles to help us create an upscale space with a cool, urban flair.  With the contemporary designs of Starlite restaurant and lounge, Influx café, and The Loft at UCSD under their belt, we were confident that this partnership was the perfect fit.”

With 2,800 square feet of architecturally inspiring space to work with, the new Jet Rhys location will feature amenities including a new waxing suite in addition to its premium styling services.

“The Jet Rhys Salon has been a fantastic project for us to work on. The owners are cutting edge, trendsetting people.  They aren’t afraid of being bold and taking risks, which allowed us to have fun designing for them.  The interior of the new North County Jet Rhys will be sleek, modern and sophisticated with pops of playful, magenta accents,” says Barbara Rourke of Bells & Whistles Design.

Jet Rhys stylists have sculpted numerous celebrity manes at A-list events, and are known for the ability to individualize the current trends and styles to suit every need. As well as expert cutting and coloring services, Jet Rhys will offer Hollywood-caliber treatments such as the new line of L’Oreal Professionnel Haircare, Japanese thermal straightening, high-quality gentle extensions using 100% natural hair with no glue or heat, and advanced Keratin Smoothing Treatment as featured in recent issues of People and InStyle.

Jet Rhys was established by former Vidal Sassoon experts, world-class colorist Jet, and precision haircutter Rhys, whose clients will drive up to 150 miles for his skilled cuts.  Opening their first location in the Hillcrest area in 1992, Jet Rhys quickly rose as the premiere salon destination in San Diego and has appeared on the pages of upscale beauty and fashion magazines such as Harper’s Bazaar, Allure, InStyle and W.  For more information, log onto www.jetrhys.com or call (619) 291-7511. San Diego Magazine

Heather Didomenico-Lewis, stylist and creative team member at Jet Rhys, had the much sought after opportunity to style a San Diego Magazine photo shoot. Heather, with her amazing creative flare, cut and styled models for the day-long “Up on the Roof” shoot which took place in Downtown San Diego atop the Ivy Hotel.

As part of Heather’s commitment to her craft she feels it is important to participate in events such as these to broaden her experience and bring a new level of creativity to the Jet Rhys salon and her clients.

Ethereal Photoshoot

Rhys has a reputation for doing things differently and he attracts like-minded talent. The vision for the shoot was influenced by the photographic work of Alfred Stieglitz from the early 1900’s and Richard Avedon’s work in the 1950’s & 60’s. Combining this, with our photographer Andrea Giaier’s work with landscapes, we set out to achieve an ethereal effect and to evoke a feeling of timeless mystery. These images seem to speak to you from a distant past but contain forms so unorthodox and innovative that they could be from the future.

The shapes combine a formidable powerful internal structure with outlines so silky and feathery that they impart a three dimensional quality.  Color clashing and complimenting at the same time, was strategically placed in a unique way to enhance the silhouette of the shapes.
